Linbury Prize Winner

In November 2017 Eleanor was awarded the Linbury Prize for Stage Design for her work with Phoenix Dance Theatre's production: Windrush.

The Linbury Prize is a biennial Prize, the most important of its kind in the UK, that brings together the best of emerging designers with professional theatre, dance and opera companies.

The four winners of each competition receive a cash prize together with a professional commission to design a production for a major company. As a winner, Eleanor designed Windrush: Movement of the People by Phoenix Dance Theatre.

Following its opening at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Windrush toured both nationally and internationally before being broadcast on BBC4.

This exciting new contemporary dance piece by Phoenix Dance Theatre’s Artistic Director, Sharon Watson, focuses the story on the some of the first Jamaican people who came to Britain.

Windrush opened at West Yorkshire Playhouse on 7-10 Feb 2018 as part of a mixed programme of work alongside Maybe Yes Maybe No Maybe by Aletta Collins and Calyx by Sandrine Monin .
